One Minute Activist: Robin Hood Tax Petition – For the People not On the People

0315_RHT_WebsiteRotator_300Billion-01-smallAre you frustrated by the financial inequality in our world?

If so, I recommended taking a minute to sign this petition that supports an effective, realistic, and relatively simple way to move wealth from the 1% and back toward the middle class. Endorsed by a plethora of diverse groups and individuals, including Oxfam America, The Gray Panthers, The New York Times,  many  labor and religious groups,  Bill Gates, David Stockholm, and one thousand economists from 53 countries wrote to the G20 in support of the Robin Hood Tax in 2011, this is not a “pie in the sky” proposition.  What is The Robin Hood Tax?

The Robin Hood Tax is a small tax of %0.5 on Wall Street transactions would generate hundreds of billions of dollars each year in the US alone.

It is just. The banks can afford it. The systems are in place to collect it. It won’t affect ordinary members of the public, their bank accounts or their savings. It’s fair, it’s timely, and it’s possible.
It’s a tax for the people, not a tax on the people.
